Positions

The Positions panel lists all the positions you currently have open. Every new position opened will appear in this panel immediately.

To open a new Positions panel, select Trading Terminal > Positions.

For each position, the following information is available:

  • Instrument - the name of the instrument traded.
  • Account - the login name of the account that opened the position.
  • Quantity - the value of the position, either in lots or in units, depending on what is selected in the Settings dialog box.
  • Basis - the price at which the position was opened.
  • Put/Call, Expiry Date, Underlier and Strike are filled only for options.
  • Position# - a unique number that the trading system assigns to each position.
  • Action - the operation with which the position was opened (BUY or SELL).
  • Date/Time  - the date and time the position was opened.
  • Amount Exp1 and Amount Exp2 - exposition of first and second currency (for Forex)
  • Current price - the market price obtainable from your broker.
  • Amount Exp1 - the amount of trade in base currency terms.
  • Amount Exp2 - the amount of trade in counter currency terms.
  • SL - the Stop Loss price set for the position, if any.
  • TP - the Take Profit price set for the position, if any.
  • Amount Exp1/close - the amount required to close a position, in base currency terms (i.e. the inverse of Amount Exp1).
  • Amount Exp2/close - the amount required to close a position, in counter currency terms.
  • Profit Exp2 - the profit/loss in secondary currency, calculated based on the current broker's price (n.b. it shows the profit/loss you would make if you close the position at the current price).
  • Unrealized Profit/Loss - the profit/loss in your account currency, calculated based on the current broker's price (n.b. it shows the profit/loss you would make if you close the position at the current price).
  • Swaps - the amounts collected/paid out by your broker when a position is rolled over to a new value date.
  • Exposure - your exposure on a position, in the account currency.
  • Commissions - the size of commissions.
  • Instrument type - market/category of the instrument (CFD, spot, stocks, etc.)
  • Comments - comments related to this positions
  • Parent Position ID - identification number of parent position in Master account.

Some columns are not visible by default. To display additional columns, right-click any of the column headers and click the title of the column you want in the shortcut menu. Use the same procedure to hide the columns you do not need, or use the Columns Manager to select the columns to display and configure them.

What You Can Do in the Positions Panel

Right-clicking on a position in the Positions panel displays a shortcut menu you can use to close the position, close a part of the position, or mutually close multiple opposite positions.

To quickly close a position, double-click it.

Using Board View

The Positions panel is also available in Board view for easy one-click trading. To switch to Board view, select Board in the panel's title bar.

Each position in cell view contains the same information as the default columns in List view. From each cell, you can close a position, or close a part of the position.

Using Detail View

The Positions panel is also available in Detail view to show detailed information about positions. To switch to Detail view, select Detail in the panel's title bar.
