Linking Panels

Some panels can be linked together. When panels are linked, selecting an instrument in one of the panels causes other panels in the group to display information relevant  to that instrument. For example, when you have an Order Entry panel linked to a Watchlist panel, the instrument selected in the Order Entry panel will be changed to the instrument selected in the Watchlist.

Each link is identified by a color: red, yellow, green, black, blue, or brown, which means you can have up to 6 links in a Workspace.

To enable color linking, select Settings > Workspaces and Layouts, and place a checkmark against Use color linking. Now, panels that can be linked will have a link button in their headers, to the left of the usual window management buttons.

Setting Up Links

To link two or more panels together:

  1. Click the down arrow alongside the Link button in one of the panels you want to link together.
  2. From the drop-down menu, select one of the colors. The button changes to display the color.
  3. Repeat the same procedure for other panels to be linked, selecting the same color.

You can also link all panels in the Workspace by selecting Link to All.

To unlink a panel from a group, click on the Link button and select Unlink.

Using the Color Links Toolbar

ProTrader .Net Station must be restarted after enabling color linking in Settings for the Color Links toolbar to become available.

Using this toolbar, it is possible to change the instrument which is shown by a linked group. First, select the instrument; if necessary, click the  button to bring up the Instruments dialog box and select the instrument. Then click the Link button and select one of the color links from the drop-down menu.

All panels in the linked group (here, Green) now display the selected symbol (here, GBP/CHF).
