Protrader workspace setups: Beginner, professional and custom

Running Protrader 3 for the first time you will be asked to determine whether you would like to use Professional version of workspace, Beginner version or maybe blank one which you will customize completely by yourself.

Running Protrader 3

For the first time I'd recommend anyone to use Beginner's workspace, and here is why.

 Beginner's workspace

Workspace for beginners contain four panels positioned pretty intuitively. Actually Forex traders may close Market Depth panel leaving just three. You have chart, watchlist and blotter with your trades. Starting from this setup is very convenient to begin our adventure with the platform, to get used to it and start looking for other tools in next steps adding them to the existing layout. Each panel has plenty of settings and customization options so take it easy and try them gradually so you won't feel overwhelmed with possibilities. Eventually, after some exploration, beginner's workspace become nothing like it was earlier and you will find it crucial to reorganize.

When you get more familiar with the platform and try most of available panels then it will be good to try with new, empty workspace to arrange it in your desired fashion.

Depending on what kind of trader you are, you can pick the main set of windows you wish to use. You can have one big chart if you are a technical analyst and if you trade exchange traded instruments it might be good idea for you to add market depth and Time&Sales to your workspace. Stock traders will find advanced filtering features of Watchlist panel very useful. Therefore this panel could gather some of your attention.

Using grid panel you can observe correlated instruments to find divergences or confirm your view on trading opportunities. Also thanks to grid panel you can keep an eye on various timeframes and indicators. It allows you to use many charts or market depth panels in just one window.

It is often case when traders are forced to use additional monitors in order to configure workspace that will fit their needs. Despite charts, market depth, and trades blotter you may want to use news module to stay tuned with market information.

Protrader 3 also contain features for scalpers and ladder traders that allow convenient form of trading using mouse only. If you scalp around extremes, you can use separate chart to watch bands, moving average or just candles’ extreme points.

After choosing panels, their positions, sizes and configuration settings, the last thing you might want to do is to connect all these panels so they can function together, so when you pick an instrument on one of them, it will become available in other connected panels.

Personally I am a Forex Daytrader using technical signals in my trading. Therefore my personal workspace setup contains:

- Big 15 minutes chart in the center of my workspace.

- Watchlist with Forex pairs sorted by percentage gain to display the strongest and the weakest pairs in my trading basket.

- Blotter with autohide function.

- Grid full of charts with other timeframes to have better look on the bigger picture.

Thank you for reading. Please share your own workspace setup in comments to this article. It is always fascinating to observe other traders' way.
