My Case for Improved Navigation
HI,
This is something that I requested and wasn't clear about how it should be implemented. A member of the team was nice enough to implement what I asked for, but never finished up the rest of it.
Ninjatrader, cTrader, all give the user more than one way to navigate the chart. The feature that those platforms have and I would love to see in Protrader, is chart navigation with the arrow keys.
I feel that this should be very quick and would be great for the next update of Protrader. A team member set it up to go forward, by pressing F12. However, this is a very, very common key to use. F12 requires me to press [fn] + [f12]. I believe it should be the right arrow. And even though I don't have access to the code, my guess is that PFSoft can change the value to negative to enabled the user to scroll left and obviously, the key responsible for going left, should be the left arrow.
What's wrong with the current navigation? I don't use the scroll wheel, because it is a big jump, which will cause me to lose the candle that I was focus on. I can't left-click and hold on the chart arrow and have the chart to continue to scroll. I have to continue pressing the mouse key. However, if you've a spouse, she gets annoyed by the constant clicking. So the only option, is to click and hold on the chart scroll bar to navigate, but obviously, using arrow keys would be so much easier.
This is a little off topic, but a pause button would be great in the backtester. Pausing is another common thing that needs to be done. I thought about creating a macro to handle the chart navigation, but NETScript doesn't support a class that enables it. It is some cool things you can do with the chart navigation function, but I didn't feel that it was enough for me to request in the feature request section like support recommended.
Thanks PFSoft for creating a great platform.
