Loading historical data in PTMC Terminal

Sorry if this is documented somewhere but I can't find a way to search previous answers or documentation. Anyway.. is it possible to change the 1 Year maximum period of data display? I want to load say 5 years of 15 Minute bars in a chart in PTMC. If the data is not available from the broker, I already have 10 years tick data on disk from Dukascopy - can I load that for viewing in PTMC charts? Note - I am not just talking about using it for backtesting in AlgoStudio, I want to manually scroll through the charts in the PTMC Terminal.

For your 1 question:

1 year for a one-minute Chart is the maximum period for displaying, but we plan to do infinity Chart. Infinity Chart is when moving Charts are loaded of history.

For your 2 question:

This functionality was previously implemented. Previously, you could be create a custom instument and load it on the chart. But after the time it was removed. If you need this functionality one, go to Feature Request (http://protrader.org/features/request) and create a query to add.

I only mentioned local tick data as an alternative source if the broker (OANDA in my case) did not provide enough history. Where will the InfinityChart get it from btw?

You've got me curious about the Custom Instrument now though... are you saying that to see my local copy of tick data, I would need to create a custom instrument? I get that it's no longer a feature - just trying to understand how it would work and maybe request its return. Could I also use that to create a tick chart while connected to OANDA? Pardon my ignorance, I have not looked at how Algo Studio uses historical data at all - would a Custom Instrument be relevant to backtesting an algo strategy at all?

Yes, I understand it. Using of the custom instrument can be a good decision for this case.

From nowhere. Infinity chart is a solution for period of data displaying. I mean, it'll allow you to see a 5 years history of 15 Minutes bars, but it won't give you an additional historical data (only server data).

Yes, you are right. It's the way, how to see your own historycal data in the platform.

So, if you want to do it, you should create a Feature Request for the client (http://protrader.org/features/request).

Yes, you'll be able to do it.

For the moment, or "How does it work?" :

1. You can create a custom instrument with a custom settings;

2. You can use your own data for it (custom instruments based on custom / loaded data);

3. You can test a strategies or optiomize them by using the custom instrument instead of default / server instrument history.
