Hi o.birrell.
This functionality already exist in PTMC.
You may fit chart with current orders / positions.
Also you may fit charts with drawings and choose Relative or Logarithmic scale type.Regards,

I'm not sure how the example shows how you can scale our of a position. By calling out I mean closing out say 50% of your position and leaving half the position/lots still open. Does this make more sense?

I think Lendich may have misunderstood your request as scaling the chart so your position can be in view, rather than having a feature where you can scale out of an already open position on the chart interface. Such as when you have 2 open lots in the money, and would like to close out half the position (1 lot) to take profit and let the other 1 lot ride.
This is actually possible when you enable Chart Trading in the upper right of the chart. Here, you can input the lot size, then place your order by market to scale out of the position. The smallest lot size is 1, so unless your position is greater than 2 (2,000 units), it won't be possible to scale out of the position.
This can also be done by enabling Mouse Trading in the upper right of the chart if you'd like to scale out using pending orders. Hope this helps.
